Zeno E. 'Sam' Schoenlein, age 93, died on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Otterbein Living Center in St. Mary's, Ohio surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born March 3, 1920 in St. Peter, Ohio to the late Peter & Veronica (Braun) Schoenlein. On July 31, 1948 he married Dorothy (Fortman) in St. Anthony, Ohio and she died October 14, 2004. He is survived by children, Kathleen Shepherd of Lilburn, GA, David & Karen Schoenlein of Medina, Robert & Brenda Schoenlein of St. Henry, Margory & Rick Curry of Milford, Steve & Kathy Schoenlein of Dayton and Carol & Bob Schwieterman of Castle Rock, CO, 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his dear friend and companion Bobbie Jane Axe of St. Marys, a brother and spouse Louis & Mary Jean Schoenlein of Portland, IN and sisters-in-law Elvira Schoenlein of Columbia, SC and Lucy Fortman of Dayton. He is preceded in death by siblings and spouses, Paul Schoenlein, Carl & Irene Schoenlein, Martin & Ann Schoenlein, Maxie Schoenlein, Dula & Frederick Brand and Sr. Marie Schoenlein O.P.A., and in-laws, Fr. Marcellus Fortman, Adelaide & Herman Lochtefeld, Paul & Mary Fortman, Richard & Eleanor Fortman, Sr. Rosemary Fortman, Elizabeth & Leo Carter, Sr. Madonna Fortman and John Fortman. Zeno was part owner of the Coldwater Machine Company. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Coldwater Knights of Columbus Council 1991, NAIM of the North, Coldwater American Legion Post #470 and Coldwater V.F.W. Post #5135. Zeno served in the US Army Air Corp's 19th repair squadron during WWII. He loved to play Bid Euchre and was an avid fisherman, gardener and wood craftsman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, Ohio. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
