William A. Dunkel age 90 of Russia Rd. Russia, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior at 9:05 AM on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Versailles Health Care. He was born November 24, 1922 in Mount Carmel, Illinois and was raised in Ft. Branch, Indiana by the late Peter & Rose (Anslinger) Dunkel. Bill was truly blessed when he married his first wife Marcella Monnin on September 10, 1947, and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2001. He was again blessed by his second marriage to Carol (Monnin) Sherman on January 8, 2005. She survives in Russia, Ohio. Bill is also survived by children: Jacqueline & Victor Stuffel, Muncie, IN, Barbara & Harry Crego, Huber Heights, OH, Mark & Mary Dunkel, Mentor, OH, Janel Grillot, Russia, OH, Suzette & Marvin Smith, Troy, OH, Angie & Dan Lachat, Russia, OH, Tina & Doug Ike, Houston, OH, step-children: Joan & Ed Grilliot, Versailles, Cindy Webster, Sidney, Sandy & Gary Meyer, Troy, Chris Baugher, Russia, Doug & Terri Sherman, Piqua, Mark & Cheryl Sherman, Sidney & Pat & Sheri Sherman, Russia, 21 grandchildren, 27 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 37 step-great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild, brother George & Juanita Dunkel, Ft. Branch, IN, sister Carol Harrington, Indianapolis, IN, brother-in-law Allen Perkins, Ft. Branch, IN. He was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Blair and Bonnie Perkins. He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Russia, the CWV, The American Legion, Sidney, and of the Tankers Association. He was a Corporal in the US Marine Corps during WWII and proudly served in the Pacific Theatre as a radio man and in the Tank Division. He started Akerue Electronics as well as Dayton Electronics Alarm & Signal installing burglar and fire alarms, and retired from Wells Fargo Alarm Service. In his later years he was also able to fulfill his dream of being a cattle farmer and founded The Someday Farm. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was an inspiration to all of his family. Semper Fi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Remy Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Amberger, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery.
