Werner H Prenger

Werner H. Prenger, age 94, formerly of Coldwater, died on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Otterbein, St. Marys.  He was born June 6, 1927, in Egypt, to the late Henry & Clara (Schlarman) Prenger. On October 23, 1954, he married Norma Jean (Weiskittel) Prenger, and she died March 11, 2014.

Werner is survived by five children, Lorraine & Rich Grimm of Loveland, Linda & Lee Dicke of New Bremen, Carol & Martin Inkrott of Knoxville, TN, Nancy & Chuck Stahl of Loveland and David Prenger of Loveland, twelve grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by siblings and in-laws, Mary Ann Lefeld of St. Henry, Ralph & Ruth Ann Prenger of Botkins, Alma Meyer of Ft. Loramie, Cletus & Rosann Prenger of Minster, Therese & Roger Schmidt of McCartyville, Carl & Jeannie Weiskittel of Albion, Michigan, and Janet & Wally Steinbrunner of Coldwater, and a special companion at Otterbein, Bobbie Axe.

In addition to his wife and parents, Werner is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, Alvina & Vernon Ahrens, Norbert & Angela Prenger, Leonard & Mildred D. Prenger, Edwin & Mildred E. Prenger, Viola & Raymond Schmidt, Delores & Louis Meyer, Martin Lefeld, Herman Meyer, and Anna Weiskittel and his father and mother-in-law, Joseph & Agnes Weiskittel.

Werner was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Holy Name Society, Coldwater Knights of Columbus, and the Maria Stein Knights of St. John.  Werner worked as an engineer for 37 years at Copeland Corp. (now Emerson).   He enjoyed family gatherings, following the Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State sports, and traveling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, with Fr. Richard Walling, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
