Virginia M. Brandewie age 85 formerly of Brandewie Rd. Ft. Loramie, OH died at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster. She was born February 23, 1929 in Shelby County to Frank & Josephine (Riethman) Schafer who preceded her in death. She married Joseph G. Brandewie on July 16, 1949 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2012. She is survived by children Sandra Pitts, Sidney, Diane & Jim Ernst, Bellbrook, Nancy Ernst, Ft. Loramie, John & Karen Brandewie, Ft. Loramie, Joe B. & Mary Brandewie, Ft. Loramie and Jerry & Stacey Brandewie, Ft. Loramie and preceded by 2 sons Lawrence Joseph & James, also survived by 17 grandchildren & 1 deceased grandchild Tony Ernst, 21 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Buehler, McCartyville, sisters"in-law Marty Schafer & Esther Shafer & brother-in-law Jack Siler in-laws, Lester Brandewie, Celina, Joan & Paul Maurer, Ft. Loramie, Paul Brandewie, Sidney, step brother Jim & Carol Bornhorst, Ft. Loramie. She was preceded in death by brothers & sisters Emma Grilliot, Madella Goldschmidt, Irene Monnin, Elmer Schafer, Clara Harris, infant Alvina Schafer, Bernard Schafer, Joseph Schafer, Jerome Schafer and Velma Siler. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Anne Rosary Altar Sodality. She was a graduate of Ft. Loramie High School and played saxophone in the band. She was a secretary at Minster Machine, worked at Heritage Manor Nursing Center and Trails Restaurant, Ft. Loramie. She loved bowling, cards, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Steven Shoup celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday May 22, 2014 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Friday, May 23. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences may be made at www.hogenkampfh.com .
