Virgil J. Kuess, age 80, of Chickasaw, died Saturday, July 11, 2020, at his home. He was born January 11, 1940 in Chickasaw to the late Richard & Alvira (Niekamp) Kuess. On September 15, 1962, he married Rita (Marshal) who survives in Chickasaw. He is also survived by his children Ronald (Cody) Kuess & Deb Brown of St. Rose, Carolyn (Greg) Bly of Waynesfield, Angela (Rich) Leis of St. Sebastian, Randy (Karen) Kuess of St. Sebastian and Dan Kuess of Chickasaw; nine grandchildren: Jacob (Katie) Lorton, Alyssa (Kyle) Henry, Seth Lorton, Brandon Bly, Jarrod Bly, Haley Kuess, Natalie Kuess, Carter Kuess and Lydia Kuess; one great-grandchild, Basil Henry; a brother Ott & Nancy Kuess; and a sister-in-law Judy Marshal. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Wilmer (Lucille) Marshal and a brother-in-law Lowell Marshal.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw, men’s sodality of the church, and the Knights of St. John in Maria Stein. He was a farmer who lived on the same farm his entire life, he also worked for Mercer Landmark and Hueslman Automotive. He was a 1958 graduate of Marion Local high school and named the Flyers. Virgil enjoyed going to Lake Erie, fishing, camping, following the Cleveland Browns and going to casinos
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday July 15, 2020 at Precious Blood Church, Chickasaw. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 14th and 9 to 10 am on Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Care.
