Vernon Frank Wynk, 76, of Coldwater, died at 12:45 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence.

He was born December 5, 1942, in Celina, the son of Albert and Matilda (Homan) Wynk.

He married Patricia Streacker on July 6, 1963. She survives in Coldwater at the residence. They were married for 56 years.

He is also survived by his daughters: Lisa (Eric) Wilson, of St. Marys; Sandy (Walter “Oop”) Raffel, of Coldwater.

He is survived by his grandchildren: Brandy (Nathan) Caudill of Beavercreek; Jeremy Wilson of St. Marys; Jenna Raffel and Alex Raffel of Coldwater.

He is survived by his great-grandson: Griffin Caudill of Beavercreek and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his siblings: Eileen Brookhart, of Montezuma, Paul (Connie) Wynk of Coldwater, Don (Jean) Wynk of Maria Stein, and Alice (Mike) Yaney of Celina.

He is also survived by his in-laws: JoAnn Dues, Barb (Jim) Fisher, Kathy (Ken) Eyink, Paul (Cathy) Streacker, all of Coldwater; Evie (Bob) Heckman, of Piqua; Jeanette (Dave) Lambert of Wapakoneta; Pauline (Roger) Everman, of Dayton, and Connie (Bill) Rossi of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-laws: Bryce Brookhart and Lowell Dues.

Vernie was a 1961 graduate of Coldwater High School. He worked at New Idea after graduation until it closed. He was also a part-time Coldwater Police Officer. He later worked at C.A.P.T., Mercer County Board of Elections, and Home Bakery. He was also the President of the Local Soars, and was an usher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church for many years.

Vernie was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, collected Beer Cans, pens, and key chains. Vernon enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 9th and 9 to 10 am Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
