Vernon M. Winner, age 89, formerly of St. Rt. 705 Osgood, died Monday April 4, 2011 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster, OH. He was born March 14, 1922 in Yorkshire, OH to the late Robert & Kathryn (Bergman) Winner. He married Agnes Borchers on June 16, 1948 in Ft. Loramie, OH. She survives in New Bremen. He is also survived by sons Jay & Ginny Winner & Mark & Lori Winner all of New Bremen, brothers & sisters Ralph & Elsie Winner, Urban & Connie, Tom & Henrietta Winner, Ken & Bev Winner all of Osgood, Karen & Ron Schwieterman, St. Sebatian, grandchildren Elizabeth, Derek, Brett & Stephanie. He was preceded in death by a son Craig & sister-in-law Babe Winner. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, past commander of American Legion Post 588, Mercer County Elks, Versailles Knights of Columbus. He was a Veteran of the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He retired as former owner of Robert Winner & Sons in 1985. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Rev. David Zink celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood with full military honors by the Osgood American Legion. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Minster on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to Osgood American Legion.
