Vernon A. Hartings, age 80 of 7351 St. Rt. 119, St. Rose, Ohio died at 8:00 AM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at his home. He was born February 28, 1932 in St. Rose, to the late John & Bernadine (Leugers) Hartings. He married Alberta Ranly on September 5, 1953. She preceded him in death on November 8, 1982. He then married Arlene Wolaver on November 4, 1989. She survives in St. Rose. He is also survived by children Deb Brown & Ron Kuess, Chickasaw, Diana & Nicholas Bruggeman, Cranberry Prairie, Kevin & Sandy Hartings, Maria Stein, Jeff & Joyce Hartings, St. Rose, step-children, Kyle & Nancy Plattner, Ft. Loramie, Karen & Brian Cron, Piqua, 21 grandchildren & 26 great grandchildren, brother & sisters, Alfrieda F. Mescher, Minster, Leo & Beverly Hartings, Shelby, OH, Alice Moorman, Minster, Doris & Eugene Imwalle, Maria Stein, in-laws, Len Hartings, Celina, Lowell & Sue Wolaver, Ft. Loramie, Kenneth & Carol Wolaver, Houston. He was preceded in death by brothers & sisters Alfred & Edna Hartings, Eleanor & Leander Knapke, Luella & Walter Osterholt, Richard Hartings, Wilfred Hartings, Norma & Elton Thobe, Ivo Hartings and in-laws Paul Mescher & Virgil Moorman. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose, OH, the Men's Sodality of the Church, Marion Local Athletic Boosters & MCDO. He retired from Crown Equipment, New Bremen, and was a well loved craftsman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 Monday, September 17, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Gene Schnipke celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2012 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Monday, September 17, 2012.
