Vera E. Grogean age 96 of Newport, Ohio died on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born January 1, 1915 in Minster, Ohio to the late Harry & Sophia (Boerger) Eiting. On August 24, 1940 she married Marion A. Grogean. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1996. She is survived by a brother-in-law Charlie Grogean, Russia, Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews & great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers & sisters; Edwin, Henrietta Pleiman, Norbert, Rose Mary Osterloh. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Rosary Alter Sodality of the church, The Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Ladies Society. She was part owner/operator of Newport Tavern & Grogean Tavern and later managed Norge Village Dry Cleaning and Laundry Mat, Sidney. Vera enjoyed cooking, sewing and fishing. She also enjoyed doing favors for neighbors and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Friday, February 18, 2011 Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport with Rev. Steven Shoup celebrant. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Minster on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to the Fr. Larry Eiting Fund.
