Urban J. Bensman, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on March 24, 2018 at the age of 93. He was born on August 28, 1924 in Sidney, Ohio to Julius & Cecelia (Hoying) Bensman, he had 5 siblings. As a young man he enlisted in the army and dutifully served our nation as a Staff Sergeant during WWII. Upon his return to the states, he married Kathleen Friemering and they were blessed with 3 children. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster Sidney American Legion, McCartyville K of C, Minster F.O.E. and the Moose Lodge, Sidney and retired from Lochard Heating & Air Conditioning after more than 50 years of services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine Church, Minster, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 with Rev. Rick Nieberding, Celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster on Monday, April 2, from 4 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 9 to 9:30am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wilson Hospice . Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
Urban is survived by his wife Kathleen Bensman, his children: Mary Jo & Duane Matheus, NV, Linda & Terry Bauer, Sidney, Ron & Kate Bensman, CA, sister: Mary Hartard, Wapakoneta, in-laws Ralph Bornhorst, Marty Bensman, Fort Loramie, Lois Heyne, Minster, Lee Westerheide, St. Marys, Frank Heitkamp, Minster.
He was preceded in death by siblings; Rita Bornhorst, Bill Bensman, Theresa & Roger Bornhorst, Joan & Paul Wilenberg, in-laws Jim Hartard, Jack Heyne, JoAnn Westerheide & Joyce Heitkamp.
