Thomas W. Wehrkamp, age 86 of St. Henry, died on Friday, June 19, 2026, at EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. He was born May 11, 1940, in Burkettsville, to the late Linus & Esther (Van den Bosch) Wehrkamp. On October 15, 1960, Tom married Carol (Olding) Wehrkamp. Together Tom and Carol were married for 62 years, until her passing on October 24, 2022.
Tom is survived by his two children and their spouses, Doug & Kelley Wehrkamp of Asheville, NC, and Lisa & Jerry Stahl of St. Henry, grandchildren; Ashley Wehrkamp, Thomas & Paige Wehrkamp, Tony & Amber Stahl, Brad & Elizabeth Stahl, Kyle & Kami Stahl, and Olivia & Kyle McKibben, great grandchildren Beckett, Maren, and Greyson, Henry, Cade, Caroline and Nora, and one on the way, as well as in-laws, Linda & Bob Eyink, and Becky Wehrkamp.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tom is preceded in death by a great grandson, Bradley Stahl, brothers and their wives, Jim & Kathy Wehrkamp, and Ken & Susie Wehrkamp, and his father and mother-in-law, Othmar & Mildred Olding.
Tom was a 1958 graduate of St. Henry High School and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a proud 53-year member of the Fort Recovery American Legion Post 345. He worked at the St. Clair Mills in Ft. Recovery for 10 years and raised turkeys for 28 years. He later founded Wehrkamp Enterprises and sold it to Brock Dilbone. Tom was an avid game hunter and golfer. He was a member at the Mercer County Elks for 52 years, and served on the board there for four of those years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Thursday, June 25, 2026, at St. Henry Church. Following the funeral mass, burial with military honors will take place in the St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Wednesday, June 24, and from 9:00am – 10:00am on Thursday, June 25, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Those wishing to honor Tom’s life may consider doing so by making a memorial contribution to EverHeart Hospice. Condolences for the family may be expressed in person, or online at hogenkampfh.com
