Thomas J. Lefeld, age 78, of St. Henry, died on Monday, August 10, 2026, at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima.
Tom was born on January 5, 1948, in Celina, to the late Seraphim and Clarina (Bettinger) Lefeld. On May 13, 1972, he married Judy (Schroer) Lefeld. Tom and Judy were married for 54 years, and she survives in St. Henry.
Tom is also survived by four children and their spouses, Marsha & Neil Hess of Ft. Loramie, Greg & Amanda Lefeld of Sagamore Hills, Matt & Patty Lefeld, and Jeff Lefeld all of St. Henry.
Other surviving family members include eight grandchildren: Nathan Hess, Emily & Austin Gannon, Ashlee Hess, Grant and Addison Lefeld, Tate, Quinn, and Darby Lefeld, as well as siblings and in- laws, Leo & Ginny Lefeld, and Mary & Jim Jutte, all of St. Henry, and Val & Connie Lefeld, of Burkettsville; and in-laws, Janet Lefeld, of Coldwater, Marge Lefeld and Rosie Lefeld, both of St. Henry, Mike & Cheryl Schroer of Lacey’s Spring, AL, Sue & Steve Turner of Kettering, Bob & Karen Schroer of Ft. Recovery, Bonnie & Chet Rhoades of Nokomis, FL, Joan & Ted Stachler of St. Henry, Sharon & Bruce Scott of Ft. Recovery, Marjorie Schroer of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Dave & Theresa Schroer of Ft. Recovery.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Lefeld, as well as brothers Art Lefeld, Ernie Lefeld, Robert Lefeld, and Linie Lefeld, and his parents-in-law, Joe & Rita Schroer.
Tom was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry Knights of Columbus, and the St. Henry American Legion Post 648. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Tom was a graduate of St. Henry High School, Class of 1966, and was co-owner of B&L Construction in St. Henry. He was an avid card player, fisherman, and followed all his grandchildren’s sporting events.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial with military honors will take place in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
