Thelma M. Thieman

Thelma Mae (Truscott) Thieman was born to Ernest & Anna Mae (Woodford) Truscott on May 1, 1931, in Pottsville, PA. At the age of 94, Thelma passed on to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Dayton, OH.

Thelma was a coal miner’s daughter and in her younger years she worked in a pajama factory in Pennsylvania. She loved crocheting and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite games were Bingo and 500 Rummy. Thelma was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Sodality at the church, and the St. Henry American Legion Auxiliary.

On June 12, 1954, Thelma married her husband Leo G. Thieman. Thelma and Leo were married for 69 years until his passing in 2023.

Thelma is survived by her children and their spouses: William Thieman of St. Henry, Edward & Brenda (Yoeckel) Thieman, Robert & Mary (Szotak) Thieman, and Linda (Thieman) Leopard, all of Dayton. Also surviving Thelma are her grandchildren, Joey Thieman & Rachel Unger of Boston, MA, Tony Thieman & fiancé Libby Kinsel, Adam & Amanda (Reed) Thieman, and Benjamin Thieman & Taylor Putnam, all of Dayton, and great grandchildren Ezileo Thieman and Ollie & Arlo Thieman.

In addition to her husband Leo, Thelma is preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Truscott Maley, John Truscott, and Alvin Woodford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, Ohio. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 10:00am – noon on Saturday, April 25, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
