Ted Wilkens age 84 of Cleveland passed on May 5, 2017 at The Weils of Bainbridge, Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He was born on January 29, 1933 in Minster, Ohio to the late Ed & Teresa (Sextro) Wilkens. He is survived by a sister Joan & Al Hoying, New Bremen a special friend Helen Cardinal, Cleveland and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Ted was a graduate of Minster High School and The Ohio State University and was on the OSU reserve basketball team. He was the first Eagle Scout of Troop 44 Minster and served as an assistant scout master. He served in the U.S. Air force as a pilot in the Strategic Air Command and holds a commercial pilot’s license. Ted was employed by Republic Steel and was a manager of sales in the tubular products division. During his retirement he did volunteer work as a care giver for the aging and poor. He was a member of the K of C, the American Legion, Mayfield Racquet Club, B-47 Statojet Association, the Cold War Rec Association and the 310 th Bomb Wing Organization. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Friday, May 12 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Neiberding celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
