Sylvan Jutte

Sylvan Jutte, age 85, of St. Henry, passed away peacefully, early Friday morning, August 25, 2023, at The Gardens at St. Henry.

He was born April 11, 1938, in St. Henry, to the late Edward & Leona (Siefring) Jutte.  On October 12, 1963, he married Jeannette (Sutter) Jutte, his wife of almost 60 years.  Jeannette passed just four months prior to Sylvan on April 1, 2023.

Survivors of Sylvan are a daughter, Marcia Brackman of Carmel, IN, two grandchildren, Ryan and Andrea Brackman, as well as in-laws: Norbert & Jeanette Albers of Coldwater, Pat Beyke of Franklin, TN, Mary Duweling of California, Theresa & Bernie Gero of Syracuse, NY, Joe & Bev Sutter of Kingman, AZ, Carolyn Sutter of Logansport, IN, Lana Sutter of Mendon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sylvan is preceded in death by his only sister, Lillian Albers, as well as in-laws: Dolores Cosgrove, Ernest & Mert Sutter, Cyril Sutter, Herb & Evelyn Sutter, Jerry & Pat Sutter, Rita Noll, Albert Sutter, and Hank Beyke.

Sylvan was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, as well as the St. Henry Knights of Columbus Council #2640.  He also was a former member of The Heritage Club, and the Ohio Township Association.  Sylvan graduated from St. Henry High School in 1956.  He served his community as a township trustee for over 20 years, and also worked at Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina for over 20 years.  Sylvan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, and riding around town on his scooter and later his golf cart.  He had an incredible gift of wit that he used to put a smile on everyone’s faces.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, at St. Henry Catholic Church.  Burial in the St. Henry Cemetery will follow the funeral mass and lunch will be served in the church basement.  Friends and family may call from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Wednesday, August 30, and from 9:00am – 10:00am on Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.  Condolences for the family may be expressed at hogenkampfh.com
