Suzanne M. “Boots” Groff age 90 of Russia, Ohio died Friday, March 19, 2021 at her home in Russia. She was born April 9, 1930 in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Emanuel & Sophia (Voisard) Francis. She married C. Wayne Groff on August 5, 1950 and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2007. She is survived by children: Daniel & Virginia Groff, Mansfield, Barbara & Donald Cordonnier, Russia, Thomas & Sharon Groff, Versailles, Donald Groff Smyrna, GA, Doug & Jody Groff, Versailles and son-in-law Richard Berger, Versailles, 13 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Rebecca Berger, brothers & sisters: Rose & Ed Lehman, Robert & Ruth Francis, Jane & Bernard Bruns, Jim & Doris Francis, in-laws: Joe & Ruth Groff, Bill Groff & Jane Groff-Hill and Rosalie “Peach” & Ken Williamson. She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia and was a lector and distributor of the Eucharist to the homebound. She was a 1948 graduate of Russia High School. She retired from Clopay in 1994. She worked many of the Chicken Fries at the CWV Hall and Fire Department. The Gathering Place held a special place in her heart. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia and will be livestreamed on St. Remy’s Facebook page. Burial will follow at St. Remy Cemetery, Russia. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 3 to 7 PM on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 and from 9 to 10 AM on Wednesday. Visitors are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gathering Place and RACK (Random Acts of Christian Kindness).
