Sue Schmiesing

May 25, 1950 — October 21, 2023

Early Saturday morning, October 21, 2023, Sue (Kaiser) Schmiesing went to live in the house of the Lord forever.  By God’s grace, she left this life holding hands with her family.

Sue made the world a brighter place on May 25, 1950. On June 16, 1973, she married her love of 50 years, Sam Schmiesing.

Many knew her as Sue, but a few were blessed to know her as “Mom” + “Nana”.  Her beloved family and her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.  Continuing her amazing legacy of faith and love are her husband, Sam Schmiesing; her children, Jeff (Kristy) Schmiesing, Sheri (Brian) Knapke + Whitney Schmiesing (Max Fischer); 6 beloved grandchildren, Samantha + Charlie Schmiesing, Addison, Austin, Lyla + Camille Knapke; 6 siblings: Charlene (Milton) Bergman, Hank (Alice) Kaiser, Art (Jackie) Kaiser, John (Deb) Kaiser, Emma (Tom) Sudhoff, Phyllis Macke; step-siblings: Arlene (Ray) Parr, Dan (Marilyn) Schmitz, Pam (Dave) Lange, Todd Schmitz; Sam’s sister: Shirley (Ron) Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard and Eileen (Rauh) Kaiser, stepfather, Ben Schmitz, and her in-laws, Elmer and Dorothy (Stachler) Schmiesing.

Sue graduated from Fort Recovery High School in 1968.  Her most beloved jobs were mom, teacher, and housekeeper.  She co-founded and taught at For Kids Only preschool, impacting the lives of over 600 children, teaching religion for 30+ years at Holy Trinity, and cleaning houses for many families in the area.  Above all, she loved helping people and sharing the word of God.

Sue enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, supporting them in their various activities, planning costume and “un-slumber” parties, coordinating mystery dinners, creating games for her family + friends, organizing May baskets + Christmas shoe boxes for those less fortunate, and, of course, no one was safe from Sue’s infamous practical jokes.

She had many titles, but first and foremost, she was a child of God, working always to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  Her unrelenting faith was the center of her life and her foundation.  Sue was a quiet but mighty force acting as the love of God, the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
