Stanley G. Goettemoeller

Stanley G. Goettemoeller, age 99, of Cassella, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.  He was born November 9, 1924, in Cassella to the late Frank B. & Anna M. (Clune) Goettemoeller.  On September 29, 1954, he married Alma C. (Siefring) Goettemoeller.  Alma preceded Stanley in death on July 11, 2016.   Stanley is survived by four children, Don & Beverly Goettemoeller of Sidney, Mary & Joseph Bruggeman of Wellington, FL, Joan & Ronald Puthoff of St. Henry, and Frank & Robin Goettemoeller of New Knoxville.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Lauren & Grant Phillips, Ryan, and Christian Goettemoeller, Derek and Adam Bruggeman, Jordan and Claire Puthoff, Katherine Goettemoeller & Mark Barga, Brent & Julie Goettemoeller, and Julia Goettemoeller, and three great grandchildren, Olivia, Evie, and Jack Goettemoeller.

Stanley was the last surviving family member of his generation.  In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Hilda & Linus Hausfeld, Irene Henry, Rita & Rudy Wendel, Hilda & Carl Wuebker, Rita & Richard Stachler, and Clarence & Dorothy Siefring, as well as his father and mother-in-law, August & Mary Siefring.

Stanley was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, and its men’s sodality.  He was a 1943 graduate from St. John High School in Maria Stein, and was a member of Catholic Financial Life, Cassella.  Stanley proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a lifelong farmer, spending almost his entire 99 years of life on the same farm in Cassella.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Cassella. Following the funeral mass, burial with military honors will take place in Nativity Cemetery, Cassella.  Friends may call from 1 to 5 pm on Monday, January 1, and 9 to 10 am Tuesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.  Memorials may be made to The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.  Condolences for the family may be expressed at hogenkampfh.com.
