Stanley Michael Bender, 59, of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. He was born on January 8, 1965, to Julius and Lois (Baumer) Bender of Minster, OH, who preceded him in death.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 34 years, DeAnna (Weigandt), and their wonderful children: Madyson (Jake) Hackleman of Indianapolis, IN, Ireland Bender of Atlanta, GA, and Tag Bender of Bloomington, IN, and his cherished grandchildren, Scottie and Crew Hackleman. He is also survived by his in-laws, Richard and Juliana Weigandt of Minster, OH; his siblings: Ann (Bill) Miller of New Bremen, OH, Barbara Bender of Columbus, OH, Virginia Bender of Sidney, OH, Denise (Mark) Swiger of New Bremen, OH, and Tony (Andrea) Bender of Hawaii Kai, HI; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Todd (Julianne) Weigandt of Minster, OH, Abi (Doug) Bardasian of St. Louis, MO, and Leighton Wells of Syracuse, IN, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Amanda Wells, and niece, AJ Wells.
Stan graduated from Minster High School (Class of 1983) and was a 1987 graduate of the University of Dayton. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy.
Stan found his greatest joy at Lake Wawasee, surrounded by family and friends. Whether pulling his children on skis, wakeboards, and tubes, or sailing competitively for over 20 years, he treasured every moment on the water. His passion for sailing led to countless friendships both on and off the racecourse. Stan was an avid UD basketball fan, loved playing poker with his Minster friends, and enjoyed golfing with the Golf Fest group. His kind spirit, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be profoundly missed.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on December 27, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, OH. A private burial will follow in Syracuse, IN. A Visitation will take place at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster, OH, on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and from 9 to 9:30 AM on Friday December 27, 2024.
