Shirley Ann Maier, age 74, of 3986 Mud Pike in Celina, Ohio passed away at 8:40p.m. on Thursday July 24, 2014 at home. She was born on Sept. 19, 1939 in St. Peter, Ohio to Walter Bertke (Dec'd) and Leona (Miller) Bertke of Ft. Recovery. On July 4, 1959 she married James Lee Maier, who lives in Celina. Also surviving are her children Daniel L. & Susan Maier of Celina, Brenda L. Maier of Dallas, TX, Kimberly S. Barhorst of Wapakoneta, Ronda L. Westover of Celina, Shawn L. Maier of Celina, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brothers & sisters-in-law Jerry Bertke of Ft. Recovery, Wally Bertke of Ft. Recovery Louis & Kathy Bertke of Tremont, IL, Melvin & Karen Bertke of Ft. Recovery, Georgia Bertke of Ft. Recovery, sister & brother-in-law Judith Homan of Ft. Recovery, in-laws Mary Jo & Dick Colson of Celina, Ruth Stoepfel of Celina, Dallas & Linda Maier of Celina, Richard & Pat Maier of Celina, Phyllis Maier of Celina. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers Leroy Bertke, brother-in-law Ernie Homan, sister-in-law Pat Bertke, in-laws Cletus Stoepfel, and Robert Maier. She was formerly employed at Wrights Truck Stop, Mersman Furniture, Buckeye Overhauls, and Huffys. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. She loved pets and was an advocate for the Humane Society. Funeral services will be held at 10:30a.m. on Monday July 28, 2014 at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth G. Alt officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp College Cemetery in Celina. A private family viewing will be held at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home.
