Shawn Morris

Shawn Allen Morris, age 53 of Philothea, passed away unexpectedly in Gallipolis, Ohio on November 9, 2024. He was born March 5, 1971 in Troy, Ohio to Bob & Sally (Yount) Morris of Troy. He is survived by his wife, Debra (Schmackers); daughters Kayla Morris and fiancé Sean Wright of Piqua and Emily (Austin) Ireton of Anna; three granddaughters Aliey, Norah & Kendall; step-children, Josh Abels and fiancé Gayle Hardesty of Celina and Jayden Abels of Philothea; brother Shane (Jennifer) Morris of Covington; sister Amy (Dave) Counotte of Troy; mother-in-law Gerri Schmackers of Philothea; and in-laws: Sally Schmackers of Celina, Alexa Schmackers of Philothea, Joan Schmackers of Celina, Sandy (Randy) Kaiser of Celina, and Tom Schmackers of Philothea. He is preceded in death by Grandparents Sgt. William R. Morris and Eunice Pemberton, Dale Yount and Connie French, and Schmackers in-laws, Jim, Mike, Dave and Doug. Shawn worked as a diesel senior master mechanic for Dave Arbogast in Troy and formerly worked at Buckeye Ford in Sidney. He was a member of the Coldwater Eagles and Wendelin Sportsmans Club. Shawn had an amazing smile and a contagious laugh.  He loved to take his daughters to car races, going camping, sitting by the fire, family gatherings and playing euchre. Shawn had a love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, at the Hogenkamp funeral Home in Coldwater. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time-of-service on Wednesday. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Philothea. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
