Ronald J. Ronayne, age 95 of 36 Corduroy Rd. in Delaware, Ohio passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the Inn at Olentangy Trail Senior Assisted Living. Ronald was born on Feb. 12, 1919 in Le Sueur, MN to the late John & Blanche (Sullivan) Ronayne. On June 13, 1959 he married Elizabeth Uselman, who died in 1998. Survivors include his two daughters & sons-in-law Mary & Tony Thomas of Columbus, Ann & Rob Wermeling of Fort Wright, KY, four grandchildren Aaron Thomas, Nicholas Shea, Amanda & Paul Cook, Elizabeth Wermeling, one great grandchild Elijah Cook and his sister Rita Ronayne of Maplewood, MN. He was preceded in death by his daughter Therese Ann Ronayne. Ronald graduated from High School in Le Center, MN and then received his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Minnesota. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy on LST (Landing Ship Tank) #743 and retired from the Naval Reserves in 1979. Ronald was formerly employed at Curtiss-Wright Corp in New Jersey, Oliver Farm Implements and retired from New Idea in Coldwater in 1981. He was a very active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and an Usher. He was a Life Member of the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713 and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Celina Council #1800, and a proud member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 12, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors by the Celina V. F.W. and Celina American Legion Post. Friends may call from 5-8p.m. on Friday July 11, 2014 and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, V.F.W. membership services will be held at 7p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vitas Hospice of Columbus or the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. On-line condolences may be left at LHDfuneralhome.com.
