Robert D. Severn, age 95, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen, OH. He was born June 4, 1930 in Van Wert, OH to the late Dane S. and Grace V. (Dreyer) Severn. He married Lois Ann Streacker on September 8, 1956, she predeceased him in 2019, just one week short of their 63rd anniversary. He is survived by his children: daughter Jean and Gary Terenzi, Oxford, MI, sons Thomas Severn of Port Charlotte, FL and David Severn of Cape Canaveral, FL, grandchildren: Mark and Elizabeth Creech of Venice, FL and Amy and Terrence Brown of Shelby Township, MI and great-grandchildren Logan, Michael and Isabelle, along with several nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his devoted canine companion Josie the boxer. His sisters Betty Weddle, Marge Clouse, Coralie Wilson and Marcia Darras, their spouses and 4 nephews predeceased him.

After graduating from Van Wert High School, Robert served in the U.S. Army, then became a reservist in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from St. Rita's School of Nursing in 1953, where he met his beloved Lois Ann. He obtained a Business Degree from Iowa University in 1959. He was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was employed at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima, OH as Asst. Administrator and Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, OH as Administrator. Robert was an on-call member of the Minster-Jackson Township Fire Department for many years, also teaching first aid to their early rescue squads. He was also very involved with the early years with the formation of the Western Ohio Rail Authority. He maintained a reserve status with the Air Force and after retiring from his civil career, he became full-time Air Force Reserve, managing the Springfield Air Force Base hospital in Springfield, OH until his military retirement as a Senior Master Sergeant.

Robert enjoyed traveling, and flying his own small Cessna, wintering in SW Florida for over 40 years. He maintained memberships with The Elks, Eagles and Moose in Ohio and Florida.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in Englewood, Florida for his friends, neighbors and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church friends while a Catholic Mass and graveside service with military honors is being planned for his birthdate in Minster, Ohio.
