Robert A. Bob' Bettinger, age 84, of Coldwater, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. He was born October 7, 1931 in Coldwater, to the late Arthur & Regina (Hemmelgarn) Bettinger. On April 28, 1955, he married Barbara (Zehringer), who survives in Coldwater. He is also survived by four children, Karen & Garry Gross of Tipp City, Chris Bettinger of Brookhaven, Georgia, Susan & Mark Lewis of Waynesville, and Brenda & Marshall McCarty of Bowling Green, nine grandchildren, Adam & Kristin Gross, Alison & Aaron Maggard, Emily & Greg Chaney, John Lewis, Katherine Lewis, Mark Lewis, Nicholas McCarty, Justin McCarty, and Dylan McCarty, three great-grandchildren, Raegan, Delaney Gross and Hadley Maggard, brothers and sisters, Maguerite Griesdorn of St. Rose, Clete Bettinger, Grace Rutschilling and Carl & Ruth Bettinger, all of Coldwater and in-laws, Rita Bettinger of St. Henry and Marlene Bettinger of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Herman Bettinger, Clarina & Seraphim Lefeld, Lucille & Harold Bergman, Paul & Angela Bettinger, William Bettinger, Mary Ellen Bettinger, and LaVern Bettinger and in-laws, Clete Griesdorn, Norma Bettinger, and Paul Rutschilling. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and its Men's Holy Name, Coldwater Knights of Columbus Council #1991, Coldwater Eagles FOE #3025, American Legion Post #470 and V.F.W. Post #5135, Coldwater and the New Idea Historic Preservation Committee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Korean War. He was a service representative for the former New Idea, Coldwater and retired from Pax Machine, Celina. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
