Robert L. Bernhold (83) passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 25, 2026 at his home in Minster. He was born to Robert C. and Mary Jane Bernhold and was a 1960 graduate of Minster High School. On October 2, 1965, he married Barbara Peltier of Russia. She preceded him in death in 2005. On September 4, 2009, he married Susan Ahrns, who survives in Minster. Bob had four children: Kim (Tony) Ramirez of Avon Lake, Jeff of Tipp City, Matt (Teresa) of Treasure Island, FL, and Andy (Kelly) of New Bremen. His stepchildren are: Kate Behr of Maumee, Abby (Michael) Hodgson of Salem, OR, and Joe Monnin of Orlando. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. Bob is survived by his two sisters, Ann (Ed) Dietrich of Crossville, TN, and Linda of Las Cruces, NM.
Bob worked in the tool and die industry, where he was respected for his precision and mentorship. He was also very active in his community. As a Jaycee member, he was honored as Jaycee of the Year in 1968. He also served as a past Jaycee External VP in 1968. He received the Outstanding Chairman award for the Old Fashioned Community Picnic.
Bob also served on the Village of Minster Town Council for approximately eight years during the 1970s. Some of the major accomplishments while serving include: organizing the first Minster Oktoberfest, development of a comprehensive zoning plan for the Village, participating in the committee to form the first fire station and formulating the Village’s extensive water and sewer plan.
During the late 1970s, Bob was a Webelos leader. He then transitioned to serving on the Board for the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a Merit Badge Chairman, Vice President and President of the Boy Scouts. He was instrumental in assisting many scout members with their service projects in order to help them achieve their Eagle Scout award. He was also on the Board of Review for potential Eagle Scouts.
Bob was also very active in his church community at St Augustine Parish. He served as communion distributor and as an usher for many years. He was a member of the cemetery board and served on the Parish Council and as its President.
Bob has been active in many other community groups and contributed to causes such as the Minster Historical Society, Minster Garden Club, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Lake, Loramie Improvement Association, the Knights of Columbus bingo and the Center for Neurological Development.
Bob loved his family, friends, life at the lake, classic cars and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lake Loramie Improvement Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM Thursday, July2, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Ohio. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, on Wednesday, July1, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM and on Thursday, July 2 from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
