Rita Schoenlein

Rita B. Schoenlein, age 86, passed away Monday November 26, 2018, at her home in Maria Stein.  She was born March 13, 1932, in Maria Stein, to the late Fred & Catherine (Bergman) Grieshop.  On June 14, 1952 , in St. Joseph Church, Egypt, Ohio, she married Roman Schoenlein and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1978.

Rita is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Cathy & Pat Schmitmeyer of Montezuma, and Linda & Ivo Post of Maria Stein, nine grandchildren, Lisa & Ed Buschur, Dave & Gina Schmitmeyer, Nick & Samantha Schmitmeyer, Greg Schmitmeyer, Jenna & Doug Schwieterman, Lindsey & Craig Tuente, Clarissa Schmitmeyer, Alex Post and Aaron Post, and 19 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Mary Bruns of St. Henry, Ed & Josie Grieshop of Anna, Bernadine Grieshop of Tipp City, Paul Grieshop of Troy, Joan & Dick Rodgers of Mason, Angie & Bill Platfoot of West Milton, and in-laws: Jan Schmiesing of Sidney, and Lavern Wolters of Coldwater

Rita was preceded in death by siblings: John Grieshop, Carol Schmiesing, and an infant brother Frederick Grieshop, as well as in-laws: La wrence Bruns, Barb ra Grieshop, Albert & Victoria Schoenlein, Mary & Vernon Rutschilling, Alfreda Wolters, and Esther & Walter Rethman.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose, Ohio, and the Ladies Sodality.  She was a member of the Adoration Guild at the Relic Chapel in Maria Stein .  Rita worked along with her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed spending time with her famil y and friends, playing cards, sewing, and making quilt s for her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Satur day, Decem ber 1 , 2018 at St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose . Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call on Fri day, Nov ember 30 , from 2 :00 to 8:00 pm and on Satur day from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
