Rita M. Bergman

Rita M. Bergman, age 85 of Russia, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Upper Valley Medical Center Troy, Ohio.  She was born on July 18, 1938 in Newport, Ohio to the late Ernest & Leah (Monnier) Schwartz.  She married William Bergman on April 26, 1958 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport and he survives in Russia.  She is also survived by children: Tom & Lisa Bergman, Troy, Pat & Paula Bergman, Russia, Carmel Bergman & John Ulrich, Russia, Steve & Kelly Bergman, Russia, Ken & Christina Bergman, Russia, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one on the way, sister Margie Schwartz Barlage, Dayton.  She was preceded in death by a sister Jeannie Schwartz and brother-in-law: William Barlage. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a communion distributor, a CCD Teacher, and a member of the Ladies Sodality. Rita loved to cook, bake, garden, play cards and Bingo, watch and feed birds and spoil her grandchildren.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Newport, with burial to follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 3 to 7 PM and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday.
