Richard E. Langenkamp

Richard E. Langenkamp, age 91, of Briarwood Village, formerly of St. Henry, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. He was born July 12, 1923 in St. Henry, to the late Henry & Anna (Brackman) Langenkamp. He married Verena (Bills) on May 14, 1949, and she survives in Coldwater. He is also survived by five children, Rita & Ron Kremer of New Bremen, Rene Warren & Ed Anthony of Columbus, Agnes Gibson of Covington, Henry & Patricia Langenkamp of St. Henry, and James & Susan Langenkamp of Corpus Christi, Texas, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Fr. Arnold Langenkamp and Fr. August Langenkamp, both of Northbrook, Illinois. He was preceded in death by brothers, Norbert Langenkamp, Br. Berchmans Langenkamp, and Ralph Langenkamp and sisters, Marie Mohlman, Dorothy Muhlenkamp, Sr. Anastasia Langenkamp, Sr. Norberta Langenkamp and Anna Miller. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville and its Men's Sodality, the St. Henry Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Minster, Catholic Rural Life, Dayton, and the Ohio Council of Churches, Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and he was a retired farmer. He enjoyed fishing, swimming and volunteering at the Center for Neurological Development. He was a blood donor and hospice volunteer, who loved his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 1 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
