Reverend John L. Bensman passed away on May 25, 2018 at St. Charles Center (Carthagena). He was born on May 28, 1929 in St. Patrick, Ohio. He did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West. He was ordained on May 26, 1956 at St. Monica Cathedral in Cincinnati, Ohio by Archbishop Karl J. Alter.
Father Bensman was the last child of Joseph & Emma (Hoying) Bensman. He is survived by a sister-in-law Marcella Bensman, Russia and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Sister Mary Edmund S.C., Herbert & Bettie Bensman, Norman Bensman, Sister Mary Josephine S.C., Sister Joseph Maria S.C., Julianna & Wilfred Bergman, Joseph Bensman and Victor Bensman.
