Paul E. Freytag age 90 of Elmwood New Bremen, formerly of Minster, Ohio died at 9:20 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born on March 9, 1924 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio to the late Edward and Ethel (Speckman) Freytag. He married Irene Doorley on November 25, 1948 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. She survives at Elmwood New Bremen. He is also survived by children Mark & Jill Freytag, Centerville, David Eric & Susan Freytag, Westerville, Elaine & Donald Eichenauer, Coldwater & Jill & Jake Boerger, Coppell, TX, 5 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren, brother Jim Freytag, Sidney, sister-in-law Betty Freytag, Sidney & brother-in-law Eldon Montgue, St. Marys. He was preceded in death by brother Ed Freytag, sister Mary Montgue & sister-in-law Virginia Freytag. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Minster VFW & American Legion & F.O.E. #1391. He was a former Ft. Loramie School Board Member for 8 years, former Ft. Loramie City Councilman & a Shelby County Republican Committeeman. He was a retired brick layer and co-owner of Freytag Brothers Masonry. He was a veteran of the US Army Corp of Engineers during WWII. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with Rev. Rick Neiberding celebrant. Burial with full military honors by the Minster Firing Squad will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2014 and from 9:00 to 9:30 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.
