Patricia A. Jansen, age 95 of Carthagena, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at her son’s home in Carthagena. She was born January 4, 1931, in St. Henry to the late Ted and Hilda (Hoelscher) Koester. On July 30, 1955, she married John Jansen. Pat and John were married for 66 years until John’s passing on December 29, 2021.
Pat is survived by three children and their spouses, Lynne & Tom Alverson of Cincinnati, Sue & Jim Banville of Monroe, NY, and Doug & Sarah Jansen of Carthagena, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, Ken & Laura Alverson (Max and Nora), Zack & Chery (Alverson) Huebner (Poppy), Jim & Sarah Alverson (Annabelle, Lillian, and Eloise), Phil & Trisha Alverson (Stella), James, Lisa, Mary, and Christina Banville, Chase & Rose (Jansen) Bruggeman, James, Isabelle, John, Grace, and Peter Jansen, a sister, Mary & Dick Franck of St. Henry, as well as in-laws, Aneta Koester of Coldwater, Linda Koester of Montezuma, Edna Stout of St. Henry, and Paul Jansen of St. Henry.
He was also preceded in death by siblings and in-laws Charlie Koester, Jim Koester, John (Gene) & Edna Koester, Madonna & Al Hart, Ralph Koester, Bob Stout, Clarence Jansen, Bill & Betty Jansen, Louis Jansen, Bob & Beulah Jansen, Henry Jansen, Tom & Mary Jo Jansen, Dennis & Lucille Jansen, Clara & Floyd Lauber, Isabelle & Paul Heinke and Mary & Oscar Hemmelgarn, Walter & Margaret Stammen, Lucy & Bob Link, Judy Jansen, and her father and mother-in-law, John & Margaret Jansen.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Carthagena and the ladies sodality at the church. Pat was a dedicated care giver, taking care of her mother for many years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, but perhaps her favorite was spending time with and watching her grandchildren. In latter years watching the family grow through the addition of great grandchildren. The family wishes to give a thank you to her special caregiver Jo Balster, whos’ kindness and compassion will be forever remembered.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chickasaw with Fr. Mark Hoying Officiating. Following the funeral mass burial will take place in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 13 at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
