Norman J Severt

Norman J. Severt, age 83, of Edgewater, Florida, died on Thursday, August 18, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born October 20, 1927 in Carthagena, Ohio, the son of Henry and Marie (Saalman) Severt and Frances (Hemmelgarn) Severt. From childhood he was raised by his uncle and aunt Joseph and Cecelia (Hausfeld) Severt. He was a beloved husband of 56 years to Mary Ann (Kremer) Severt, whom survives in Florida and devoted father to Janet Severt, Orange City, Fl, David Severt Sr., Rahway, N.J. and Joyce (Don) Parson, Port Royal, PA. He was a loving Papa to Caleb, Alex, Alyssa, Joseph, Joshua, Jeremiah and David Jr.

He is also survived by his siblings: Evelyn Braun, Coldwater, OH, Charles Severt, Columbus, OH, Jane (Jerry) Bertke, St. Marys, OH, Irene (Larry) Odoski, Black Mountain, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, aunt and uncle. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked for Western Electric as a Purchase Products Inspector until retirement. He was a past member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Elks, and Habitat for Humanity. He most recently volunteered for New Horizons Service Dogs. He loved to remodel homes, help family and friends with fix it jobs and will be well remembered for his orneriness.

Family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater Ohio at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 on Saturday August 27, 2011. Fr. Barry Stechschulte will be officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Anthony Ohio.
