Norma J. Purpus, age 85 of N. Garfield St. Minster died at 6:11 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at her residence. She was born December 11, 1926 in Minster, OH to the late Julius & Nora (Ritter) Woehrmyer. She married Theodore "Ted" Purpus on April 12, 1947 at St. Augustine Church in Minster. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2007. She is survived by her children: Nancy & Tim Jay, Don Purpus, Jay & Renee Purpus all of Minster, grandchildren: Holly, Russell, Andrew, Amy, Bryan, Matt, Sarah, Craig & Benjamin, adopted family Jeff & Ruth Bitler, and their children Daniel & Nicole all of Minster, brother-in-law Thomas Purpus, Anderson, IN. She was preceded in death by daughter & son-in-law Janet & Lyndel Belcher, brothers & sister, Russell & Irma (Feldman) Woehrmyer, Vera & Harold Dorsten, Earl & Phyllis Woehrmyer. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, where she was a lay distributor, lector and a CCD Teacher. She was also a founding member of the F.J. Stallo Library Board, the C.L. of C, St. Monica's Rosary Alter Sodality, the Minster Historical Society, Ladies Bridge Marathon and Minster Athletic Booster of the Year. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Nieberding, Celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 8, and from 9:00 to 9:30 AM on Monday, July 9. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery.
