Norbert A. 'Doc' Gels, age 94, of 162 John St, St. Henry, Ohio, died on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Celina Manor Nursing Home. He was born July 20, 1917 in St. Henry, Ohio to the late Aloys and Anna (Selhorst) Gels. On December 1, 1956 he married Dolores (Huwer) Luttmer Gels and she survives in St. Henry. Doc is survived by three children Eric & Shirley Luttmer of Wilmington, NC, Jane & Joe Boeckman of Columbus and Mary & Bruce James of Celina, seven grandchildren Justin & Brooke Luttmer, Gretchen Luttmer, Karissa & Chris Bowman, Erin Boeckman, Elizabeth Boeckman, Gabe James and Leana James and a great granddaughter Adelia Luttmer. He is preceded in death by four brothers Jerry, Elmer, Raymond & Arthur and an infant sister Mary Catherine. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, a charter member of Mercer County Elks and a lifetime member of the St. Henry American Legion. Doc served as a Staff Sgt in the US Army during WWII. He retired as a partner from the former Mrs. A.J. Gels & Sons in St. Henry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry, Ohio, with Fr. Benedict Magabe, officiating and Deacon Randy Balster assisting. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Henry Cemetery, St. Henry Ohio. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-St. Henry.
