Mildred D. Prenger

March 13, 1930 — January 12, 2021

Mildred D. Prenger, age 90, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.  She was born March 13, 1930 in Frenchtown, to the late Joseph & Anna (Schulze) Winner.  On September 9, 1951 she married Leonard Prenger and he passed June 1,1983.  Mildred is survived by children and in-laws: Mike & Pat (Scott) Prenger of Celina, Marilyn & Dennis Berning of New Bremen, Tom & Marty (Braun) Prenger of Celina, Diane (Severt) Prenger of Coldwater, Rita (Homan) Prenger of Celina, Kathy & Chris Evers of New Bremen, Paul & Kathy (Schmitz) Prenger of Coldwater, Betty & Brian Anderson of Celina, Janet & Doug Fledderjohann of Coldwater, Theresa & Gary Diller of Coldwater, and Karen & Mark Overman of Ft. Recovery.  She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a sister Joan Holdheide and in-laws Rita Winner, Werner Prenger, Mary Ann Lefeld, Ralph & Ruth Ann Prenger, Alma Meyer, Cletus & Roseann Prenger, and Therese & Roger Schmidt.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mildred is preceded in death by sons  Joe & Jerry Prenger, and grandchildren, Curtis Prenger, Christopher Evers, and Jarrett Prenger, and one great grandchild, siblings and in-laws:  Urban Winner, Rita & Gregor Holthaus, an infant brother Wilfred Winner, Ralph Holdheide, Alvina & Vernon Ahrens, Norb & Angela Prenger, Ed & Mildred E. Prenger, Viola & Raymond Schmidt, Norma Jean Prenger, Delores & Louis Meyer, Martin Lefeld, Herman Meyer, and a special long-time friend Herman Hemmelgarn.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and St. Ann’s Altar Rosary Sodality.  Mildred was a member of NAIM of the North (Catholic Widow and Widowers), the Eagles Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post 470 in Coldwater.  She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

A Funeral Mass following all CDC guidelines will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater with live stream at https://www.coldwatercluster.org/information/watch-mass-online.  Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Friday, January 15, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.  Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.  Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care.  Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com .
