Michiko Mathews

Michiko Mathews age 88, of Minster, Ohio, died at 5:59 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 28, 1930 in Tainan, Taiwan to the Yoshiti Masugi and Kasuyo Michino. She married John Mathews on February 9, 1957 at St. Clemons Church in Cincinnati and he survives in Minster. She is also survived children: Paul & Kathy Mathews Annandale, VA, Jack & Allison Mathews, Laguna Beach,CA, Noreen & Todd Skaar, Carmel, IN, Mark & Barbara Mathews, Alexandria, VA, 12 grandchildren, brother Toshio Michino. She was preceded in death by brother Morio Masugi.  She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Michiko was an award winning artist of Sumi-e traditional Japanese brush painting and calligraphy.  She was also a bestselling author and one of the top 80 authors in Japan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church McCartyville with Rev.
