Melvin J Rindler

Melvin Rindler, age 89, of Burkettsville, died on Monday, November 23, 2020 at St. Charles Center, Carthagena. He was born June 30th, 1931 in Burkettsville to the late Sebastian & Catherine (Bohman) Rindler. On June 13, 1956 he married Dorina (Heitkamp) and she died May 13, 1997. He is survived by four sons, Ron (Sharon) Rindler of Maria Stein, Tim (Diane) Rindler of St. Henry, Marv (Kim) Rindler of St. Henry and Doug (Ione) Rindler of Troy; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Luella Niekamp, Marietta Monnin, George Kahlig, Rosie Heitkamp and Pat Heitkamp. He is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, Lucille (Albert) Hoelscher, Clete (Delores) Rindler, Art (Alvina) Rindler, Viola (Andy) Moeller, Armella (Jerry) Moeller, Anna Marie (John) Dircksen, Edna (Greg) Kahlig, Jerome (Mary Ann) Heitkamp, Othmar Heitkamp, Edgar Heitkamp, Evelyn Kahlig, Audry Monnin and Tom Niekamp.

He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Burkettsville and the Men’s Holy Name of the Church, and the American Legion. Melvin served in the US Army during the Korean War. For over 30 years he enjoyed playing poker with his card club friends. He also enjoyed sitting on the front porch at St. Charles socializing with the Priests, Brothers, and residents. Melvin founded Rindler Truss in 1978. He enjoyed in his retirement coming into the office everyday. His routine was getting a cup of coffee, reading the papers and doing word search puzzles, as well as talking to the employees and seeing how the business was doing.

A Public Mass of Christian Burial following all CDC guidelines will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at St. Bernard Church. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. The family would like to receive friends but due to COVID-19 concerns viewing will be private at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Center.
