Max E. Hesse, age 74, of 1308 Touvelle St. Celina, Ohio passed away at 1:30a.m. on Tuesday March 22, 2011 at the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima. He was born on April 5, 1936 in Mendon, Ohio to the late Harry & Isalena (Davis) Hesse. On June 9, 1957 he married Melanie Esmonde, who lives in Celina. Also surviving are his three children sons Scott Hesse of Spencerville, Brad Hesse of Hillsdale, MI, daughter Lora & Joe Schlueter of Celina, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his brother Richard & Marilyn Hesse of Mendon. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Merle Shimp. Max graduated from Mendon High School in 1954. He was a member of the Hamilton-Bethel United Methodist Church in Mendon and attended the St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Celina. He owned and operated Hesse Interiors for twenty years with his wife, until they closed the shop in 1984. Then Max Worked for Stock Lumber Yard in Celina and for Schlueter Home Services. Max had a passion for wood working and wood carving his entire life. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 26, 2011 at the St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Celina, with Rev. Jeff Conrad and Rev. Don Klinger officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. on Friday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina and 1 hour before services at the Church on Saturday.
