Mary Ellen Ernst, age 93, of Fort Loramie, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Elmwood of New Bremen. She was born October 22, 1922 in Egypt, Ohio to the late John & Veronica (Poeppelman) Ahrens. On November 21, 1946 she married Henry F. Ernst and he preceded her in death on February 29, 1996. She is survived by children, Henry & Linda Ernst, Piqua, Mary Lou & Thomas Klein, Carey, OH, Kenneth & Deb Ernst, Ft. Loramie, Richard & Jennie Ernst, Ft. Loramie, Karen Ernst, Sidney, Jackie Ernst, Elida, Patty & Tony Eilerman, Ft. Loramie, daughter-in-law Diane Ernst, Bellbrook, 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and sister Edna Aselage, Ft. Loramie. She was preceded in death by son, James Ernst, grandson, Tony Ernst, brother, Vernon & Alvina Ahrens and brother-in-law, Henry Aselage. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie, and a member of the NAM of the North. Mary Ellen was specially known for her cinnamon rolls, pies and cookies. She was a homemaker, gardener, avid card player and crossword puzzle solver. She was often found at the Ft. Loramie Library where her favorite librarians would supply her with the latest romance novels and current books to read. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 13, 20126 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Ft. Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
