Mary Jane Birt, age 83, formerly of Montezuma, Ohio, died on Thursday, April 05, 2012 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio. She was born May 24, 1928 in Chickasaw, Ohio to the late Ferdinand & Rosa (Clune) Schwieterman. On June 18, 1949 she married Doyle Birt, and he died October 31, 2007. Mary is survived by four children, Charles & Karen Birt of Fenton, Michigan, Ronald & Cindy Birt of Athens, Ohio, Alan & Pepper Birt of Montezuma, Ohio and Jeanette & BIll Muhlenkamp of Arlington, Texas, 16 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Harold Schwieterman, five sisters, Rita Dell, Agnes Borgerding, Leona Wildenhaus, Julianna Post and Martha Huelsman. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Altar Rosary Sodality, was a CCD teacher for over 20 years, a Hospice volunteer for many years, was a Coldwater High School Graduate and worked in the Franklin Elementary Cafeteria for over 20 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Montezuma, Ohio with Fr. Rick Friebel, officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery, Montezuma, Ohio. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater on Monday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorials may be directed to Community Health Professionals.
