It is with great sadness, but also with gratitude that we had her with us for so long, that we share the news that our mother, Martha Jeanette Simon, age 99, formerly of Russia, Ohio, died on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Landings of Sidney. She was a member of the St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Ohio.

Mart, as she was known, was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She so loved her family and goes to join our father, Harold Leo Simon, who passed away December 25, 2011.

Martha Bollheimer Simon was born December 5, 1926 to Henry and Anna (Naber) Bollheimer in Fort Loramie, Ohio. She married Harold Simon November 20, 1948, in Fort Loramie. They were the proud owners of the Golden Lantern Restaurant and in earlier years, Shep’s Place in Russia. She had a green thumb and grew the best tomatoes and beautiful flowers. She loved birds, Sudoku, dominoes, and was quite lucky at slots. She was the last of the 1944 graduating class of Fort Loramie High School.

She is survived by 8 children: Linda (Al) Cordonnier of Russia, Dianne (Jim) Bitzer of Dublin, Ron (Laura) Simon of Russia, Barb (Jon) Meyer of Minster, Rick (Pat) Simon of Russia, Bob Simon of Russia, Doug (Paula) Simon of Troy, Jacqui (Steve) Rethman of Fort Loramie.

23 grandchildren: Monique (Tyler) McGlinch, Jeremy (Tracy) Cordonnier, Aaron (Denise) Cordonnier, Zachary (Gwen) Cordonnier, Lianne (Bart) Schmitz, Stefanie (Kevin) Daberkow, Sean (Lily) Borchers, Samantha Borchers, Jessica (Tony) Bergman, Brandon (Jen) Simon, Danielle (Adam) Grieshop, Kevin (Jenni) Meyer, Kerri (David-decd) Bergman, Jenna (Brad) Prenger, Ashley (Brian) Schroeder, Kristy (Andy) Kuck, Julie (Jack) Homan, Jeff (Molly) Simon, Brittany (Chris) Schroeder, Brooke Barlage, Chad (Danielle) Rethman, Brittany (Chad) Siegrist, Brooke (Lance) Wilson. One grandson, Jason Cordonnier, preceded her in death.

She had 72 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Martha is survived by her brother Don Bollheimer (Barb) of Minster and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased siblings and spouses: Homer & Fran Bollheimer, Paul & Jane Bollheimer, Eileen Thomas, Robert Bollheimer, Alfred & Millie Bollheimer,

Kenneth & Vilma Bollheimer, and Richard & Betty Bollheimer. Deceased in-laws: Velma & Ed Monnin, Bertha & Wilfred Monnin, Sylvia & Floyd Monnier, Mildred “Toots” & Dick Boesch, Leslie “Bud” & Jeanette Simon, Henrietta “Tootie” Blue, and Luella & Albert Borchers.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia on Wednesday April 15, 2026 at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow in St. Remy Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, 555 S. Liberty St, Russia on Tuesday, April 14 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, April 15 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wilson Hospice of Sidney or St. Joseph Center, Russia, Ohio. May her memory be a blessing. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
