Martha Buschur

April 9, 1926 — December 18, 2023

Martha Buschur, age 97 of Coldwater died on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater. She was born June 9, 1926 in Minster to the late Albert & Eleanor (Stueve) Bensman. She married Robert Buschur on August 7, 1948 and he preceded her in March of 2003.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen & Tom Kaup of St. Henry, Jeffrey & Dana Buschur of Rochester, Michigan, Carol Pratt of Ft. Wayne, Patrick & Elizabeth Buschur of Cincinnati, son-in-law Bill Kiessling of Springfield, grandchildren, Lisa & Matthew Brooks, Kevin & Anke Kaup, Will & Julie Kiessling, Kristy & David Buschur-Pugh, Jacob Buschur, David Pratt, and Adam & Ashleigh Pratt and 6 great-grandchildren, and in-laws, Joan Bensman, Dorothy Bensman, Margie Neu.

Additional surviving family member, Ken Pratt and deceased family member Gayle Buschur.

Martha was preceded by a daughter Margaret Kiessling, siblings and in-laws, Paul Bensman, Bernadette & Elmer Hoying, Tom Bensman, Donald & Joan Thieman, Melvin & Audrey Buschur, Roland & Wilma Meckstroth, Tom & Jean Luken, Dick Neu and Janet & Ed Dillhoff.

Martha graduated from Minster High School in 1944 and headed to Dayton, working in an accounting office before they moved to Coldwater to raise their Family.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s Rosary Sodality, a volunteer on the funeral lunch teams, and a CCD teacher. She was a former president of the Coldwater VFW Auxiliary. She worked many years as a seamstress at Cozadd’s Men’s Store in Celina. Martha also volunteered at Briarwood Nursing Home, the Senior Citizens garage sales, and Mercer County Community Hospital.

She was an avid homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, and tend her flower garden.

Martha will long be remembered for boundless energy and serving others.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 21, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Friends may call from  5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday and from 9 AM to 10AM Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center of Neurological Development in Burkettsville or EverHeart Hospice. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com
