Marlene M. (Vondrell) Huelsman, age 93, of Cassella, passed away on Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
She was born on January 1, 1933, in Cassella, to the late August & Margaret (Grilliot) Vondrell. On November 6, 1954, she married her husband, Robert (Bob) Huelsman, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella. Bob and Marlene were married for 67 years before his death on July 25, 2022.
Marlene is survived by children: Tom & Kathy (Thobe) Huelsman, John & Linda (Schulze) Huelsman and Teresa & Don Mescher all of Chickasaw and Judy & Dave Evers of Willowdell. She is also survived by grandchildren: Kyle & Stacey Huelsman, Megan & Jared Homan, Karlee Huelsman, Scott & Elise Huelskamp, Eric & Jodi Huelskamp, Beth Huelskamp & Justin Gross, Carla Huelskamp, Brian Huelsman, Jodi & Michael Grover, Jessica & Jake Marchal, Katelyn & Wes Everman, Kelsey & Trent Homan, Andrea & Shawn Eilerman and step-grandchildren: Jake & Christy Broering, Bonnie & Adam Lindner and 29 great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren. Marlene is survived by siblings and in-laws: Dr. John & Carol Vondrell, Paul Huelsman, Freida & Walter Schwieterman, Jean & Ralph Stachler, and Jane & Adrian Jr. Grillot.
In addition to her parents, Marlene is preceded in death by sons-in-law: Dale Huelskamp and Bill Broering, granddaughters: Sarah, Allison and Janelle Mescher, father & mother-in-law: Charles & Mary (Zahn) Huelsman, as well as siblings and in-laws: Dale & Betty Vondrell, Sylvia & Bob Shepherd, Charles Jr. & Helen Jean Huelsman, Alice Huelsman, Helen & Edgar Schwieterman, Delores & Lowell Bohman and Fred Huelsman.
Marlene was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality. She was a graduate of St. John High School, Maria Stein and a graduate of Miami Jacobs Business College, Dayton. She and her husband, Bob, are past owners of Huelsman Automotive, Chickasaw, where Marlene worked for 52 years.
Marlene was proud to be a breast cancer survivor of 13 years.
Marlene and Bob enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and many foreign countries and especially enjoyed taking their grandchildren along on road trip adventures. Marlene enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed taking grandchildren shopping, out to eat or having them for sleep-overs.
Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella with Fr. Vara Kumar Chowtapalli presiding. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in the Nativity Cemetery in Cassella. Visitation will be private for the family at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chickasaw Volunteer Fire Department or to EverHeart Hospice.
