Marilyn D. Werling, age 77, of Burkettsville, died on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 22, 1937 in Maria Stein, to the late Dietrich Dick' & Hedwig (Bohman) Mescher. On April 11, 1954, she married Jim Werling, who survives in Burkettsville. She is also survived by five children, Rick & Carol (Prenger) Werling, Ann & Ken Stammen, Nick Werling, all of Burkettsville, Susan & Steve Siefring of Marysville and Sara & John Waldron of Charlotte, North Carolina, sixteen grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Eugene & Eileen Mescher of Yorkshire, Luedna Gelhaus of Ft. Recovery and Urban Mescher of Maria Stein and in-laws, Norma & Sam Moorman of Florida, Ed & Sally Werling of Burkettsville, Bud & Sharon Werling of Centerville, Mary Ann Werling of Louisville, Kentucky and Fred Werling of Sarasota, Florida. She is preceded in death by in-laws, Eugene Gelhaus and Judy Mescher. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville where she was a part of the Ladies Sodality, Decorating Committee, and various other parish committees and was a lay distributor both at the church and the Community Hospital. She was a longtime office manager for Werling & Sons, Burkettsville. She was also a homemaker, enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing and was an avid oil painter. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Bernard Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday and 9:00 to 9:45 am on Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
