Louis R. Gross, age 92, of Coldwater, Ohio, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio. He was born November 27, 1919 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Adam & Catherine (Braun) Gross. On July 30, 1949 he married Flora Jane (Ogden), and she died June 10, 1981. He is survived by five children, Rob & Marie Gross of Coldwater, Tom & Jane Gross of Coldwater, Garry & Karen Gross of Tipp City, Marge & Sam Kahlig of Coldwater and Gail & Craig Garrity of Celina, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, Vincent & Alfreda Gross of Coldwater, two sisters, Rita Heyne of Russia and Mary Ann Severt of Coldwater, a brother-in-law, Jim Bonifas of Coldwater, and a sisters-in-law, Blanche Gross of Coldwater, and Claire & Don Ansberry of Trenton. He is also preceded in death by a son, John Gross, brothers & sisters, Eugene Gross, Herb & Madonna Gross, Clarence & Becky Gross, Cyril & Bertie Gross and Viola Bonifas, and brothers-in-law, Bob Heyne, Alvin Severt, John Richard Ogden and Homer Ogden Jr. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, Coldwater Eagles, Disabled Veterans of Mercer County, former member of the Coldwater Fire Dept., Coldwater American Legion and Coldwater V.F.W., and the Mercer County Park Board. He served with the 727th Amphibian Tractor Battalion in World War Two and was the current president of their Association. He started Gross's Furniture and Floor Covering in 1953. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, Ohio. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater, Ohio.
