Leona H. Mescher, 95, Stonespring of Vandalia, formerly of Minster died Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was born May 14, 1919 in Ft. Loramie to the late Frederick and Mary (Sommer) Sanders. On July 1, 1944, she married Albert L Mescher in Ft. Loramie. Albert preceded her in death December 27, 1983. Surviving are her six children, James and Pat Mescher of Dayton, Allen and Gail Mescher of Minster, Roberta and Paul Credlebaugh of Bellbrook, Sandra and Gregory Kruger of Lewis Center, Timothy and Alice Mescher of Wakeman, and Thomas and Terri Mescher of Tipp City; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; in-laws Leander and Carol Mescher, Norma Mescher, Marie Schmidt, Rita Sullivan, Mary Mescher, and Thomas Mescher. She was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws, Henry and Emma Sanders, Theodore and Helen Sanders, Lawrence and Bernadette Sanders, Joseph and Ann Rita Sanders, Rudolph and Agnes Quinter, Henry and Alvina Kuether, Lawrence and Agnes Hoying, George and Martha Mescher, Alvin Mescher, Leo Schmidt, George Sullivan, Paul and Joan Mescher, John Mescher, Grace and Richard Selhorst, and Jeanette Mescher. Leona attended Miami Jacobs College, worked at WPAFB, then spent her remaining years as a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John., and the New Bremen Senior Citizens. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 31 at 10:00AM at St Augustine Catholic Church with the Reverend Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will be in the St Augustine Cemetery.
