Vern Kremer

Lavern “Vern” Aloysius Kremer peacefully passed away on July 22, 2026.

Vern was born on September 21, 1937, on the family farm in Chickasaw, Ohio, to Herbert and

Cecilia (Homan) Kremer. He grew up alongside his siblings: older sister Thelma (Rutchy), older

brothers Stan and Luke Kremer, and younger sister Agnes (Bertke). Vern cherished farm life

from an early age, especially caring for the animals.

Vern attended Findlay College, where he earned a degree in business. A gifted athlete, he

served as captain of the football team and also competed in basketball and wrestling. Sports

remained a lifelong passion for Vern. He loved participating, watching, and enthusiastically

cheering on his favorite teams, especially Ohio State and the Dallas Cowboys.

He proudly served in the US Army National Guard from 1959-1966.

Vern married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Ann (Duweling) Kremer. Together

they built a beautiful life and raised five daughters: Lisa (Kremer) Stonhaus, Laura (Kremer)

Komrij, Mary (Kremer) Mooney, Nancy (Kremer) Steinbicker, and Kimberly (Kremer) Kramer.

Through Vern’s successful career in sales management, the family lived in several states over

the years, including Ohio, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania, California, and

finally Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Vern and Ann happily spent the remainder of their lives after

moving there in 1989.

When Vern was not traveling extensively for work, he devoted much of his time to volunteering

with his daughters’ swim clubs. He enjoyed serving on boards and officiating swim meets for

many years. Vern never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for conversation, friendship,

and making others feel welcome wherever he went.

After settling in Tulsa, Vern became deeply involved in his church and the Knights of Columbus.

He played an instrumental role in revitalizing the organization in the area by helping establish

numerous new councils and volunteering in many capacities, including serving as Grand Knight,

District Deputy, and later selling insurance for the Knights of Columbus. The organization held a

special place in his heart, as it allowed him to serve his fellow brothers, support his community,

and help others reconnect with their faith and grow closer to God.

Family meant everything to Vern and was always his greatest joy. He was a proud father to five

daughters, five sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He also treasured his

many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma,

on August 1st at 11:00am. Proceeded by a rosary at 10:30am. Vern will later be laid to rest in

Coldwater, Ohio, following a funeral service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on August 4, 2026 at

10:30am. Visitation at Hogenkamp Funeral Home August 3rd 5-7pm.

Knights of Columbus Council #11959.
