Lavern W. Gross, age 77 of Coldwater, Ohio, died Saturday morning, June 15, 2013 at his home. He was born March 27, 1936 in St. Anthony, Ohio, to the late Gregory & Monica (Kaup) Gross. On May 17, 1958 he married Anna (Bornhorst) in Eygpt, Ohio and she survives in Coldwater. He is also survived by four children, Steven & Shirley Gross, Gary & Kathy Gross all of Celina, Joe & Ann Gross of Beavercreek and Janet & Pat Giere of Coldwater, seventeen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, seven siblings, Mary Elizabeth (Bette) & Jerry Tonner of Vero Beach, FL, Patricia (Pat) & Melvin Schlater of Vandalia, John & Carol Gross of Troy, Michael (Mike) & Betty Gross of Tipp City, Marlene & David Fink of Colleyville, TX, Charles (Chuck) & Marian Gross of Charlottesville, VA and Mark & Deb Gross of Coldwater, four in-laws, Eileen & Lester Poeppelman and Maurice Bornhorst all of Minster, Jerry & Charlene Bornhorst of Texas and Josephine Bornhorst of St. Henry. He is preceded in death by a daughter Katherine, a grandson Jonathon, a brother Thomas Gross and in laws, Viola Bornhorst, Charlie Bornhorst and Rosemary Bornhorst. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and its men's holy name society, a former CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister for the church; he also belonged to the Coldwater K of C Council #1991. Lavern was the president of the former Alumetal Manufacturing in Celina. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Marc Soellner officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm on Wednesday and 9 to 10 am Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
