Kenneth C. Siefring

July 18, 1934 — August 28, 2019

Kenneth Clem Siefring, age 85, of Burkettsville, Ohio, passed away on August 28, 2019 at his residence.

Ken was born on July 18, 1934 in Celina, to the late Florence and Anna (Homan) Siefring.

He married Frances (Berning) Siefring on June 28, 1958 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, and she survives in Burkettsville.

Ken is survived by children: Beverly & Rick Uhlenhake of Coldwater, Jeffrey & Deb Siefring of Hopedale, MA, Jacqueline & Cary Goettemoeller of St. Henry, Judy & Kevin Schaefer of Ft. Recovery, Nicholas & Karen Siefring of Burkettsville, and Joyce & Mike George of Marysville.

He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a brother Lavern “Pat” & Jeanette Siefring, and in-laws: Romie & Naomi Schaefer, Marie Huelsman, Loretta Link, Bernard & Irene Berning, Annie Hemmelgarn, Veronica & Arthur Hermiller.

Ken is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Schaefer, his father and mother in-law Frank & Josephine (Meyer) Berning, and in-laws: Tom & Helen Fullenkamp, Arthur & Kate Reynolds, Vince Huelsman, Eugene Link, Morris Siefring, and Arthur Hemmelgarn.

Ken was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, and the St. Henry Knights of Columbus.  He served in the U.S. Army in France during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Coldwater VFW, where he was a Post Commander for two years, and the Ft. Recovery Legion, where he was Chaplain for 33 years.  Ken was a lifelong farmer and drove school bus for St. Henry Schools for over 44 years.  For many years Ken was known to portray “the big man in red” around Christmas, especially at Birt’s Store in New Weston.  Ken enjoyed cards and school sports, especially baseball.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2019 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.  Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 1 and from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, September 2, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville or the St. Bernard Parish Improvement fund.  Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
