Kenneth Bruns, age 89, of St. Sebastian, passed away on Thursday, July 16 at Everheart Hospice in Greenville. He was born on May 30, 1937 in Chickasaw to the late, Clarence & Rosa (Bills) Bruns. On November 7, 1959 in St. Rose Catholic Church, he married Ruth (Piekenbrock) Bruns and she survives in St. Sebastian.
He is also survived by children, Steve & Dorothy Bruns of Minster, Tom & Laura Bruns of Coldwater, Jim & Beth Bruns of North Star, Judy Bruns of Coldwater, and Jill & Doug Timmerman of Coldwater, 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and in-laws, Esther & Rich Heckman of Frenchtown, Edna & Alvin Tebbe of St. Anthony, Eva Gehret of Yorkshire, Linda & Larry Pleiman of Yorkshire, Eileen & Art Siefring of Burkettsville, Emily Timmerman of Union City, and Erma & Bob Stump of Union City and Janice Piekenbrock of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by in-laws Leroy Piekenbrock, Chuck Timmerman and Joe Gehret.
Ken was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. He was a member of the Men’s Sodality and a lector at St. Sebastian Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Horseshoe Club. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Celina Bulldog athletics. He was a lifelong farmer with a passion for antique tractors. After farming, he worked many years at Chickasaw Machine. He enjoyed camping and loved to hear about the many activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, July 19 and from 9 AM to 10 AM on Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Memorial Contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice.
